Transformational child rights learning and awareness for children themselves imbues them with knowledge that the world should be and can be a safer place. Therefore, opportunities to learn and receive inputs and trainings on child related rights and legislations are a core element of child rights learning. Active participation of the children in the process of inculcating child rights in order to combat violation of their rights is crucial. Furthermore, these children can disseminate information on child rights and it can make the children as advocates of child rights in the society.

Hence, in order to enhance awareness and knowledge on child rights among the children, MSCPCR conducted Awareness Campagin on POCSO Act, 2012 for Classes IX & X students of Govt. Sihphir Venghlun High School on June 3 (Monday), 2024.

Pi Priscilla Lallawmsangi, Legal Officer, MSCPCR gave comprehensive lecture on POCSO Act, 2012, its applicability and relevance for teenagers who are on the verge of entering adulthood. Pu Francis Lalthaenga, Counsellor who accompanied the Legal Officer gave a brief introduction on function, power and mandates of MSCPCR and Mobile Game Addiction among School children as well.

The 100+ students and the teachers benefitted much from the programme. The awareness programme on POCSO Act, 2012 being organised in various educational institutions across the State are a subsequent results of the instruction given to Education Department, Govt. of Mizoram by the Commission vide Letter No. B.12012/3/2023-SCPCR Dated Aizawl, the 21st March, 2024
