The Mizoram State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) had conducted “Inspection on School and Hostel Maintenance & Covid 19 Related Measures Taken by School & Hostel Authorities, 2021” by setting up Inspection team from MSCPCR Members and Staff.
Aizawl City was selected for the study as it represents the whole state, based on numbers of population and its diverse socio economy. The schools and hostels were randomly selected from different location, viz., South East Aizawl, North & West Aizawl areas within Aizawl City. The selection of Schools and Hostels from Primary Standard to Higher Secondary Standard run by the Mizoram State Government, Private run schools and hostels were selected for understanding the diversity.
The inspection was conducted by using the Regulatory Guidelines for Hostel of Educational Institutions for Children framed by the Education Division, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), 2018; the Mizoram School Hostel Infrastructure, Facilities and General Care of Students (Management) Rules, 2016; Guidelines framed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI); and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Opening of Schools in Mizoram (October, 2020), Issued by Directorate of Education, GoM.
The inspection led by Pi Sangzuali Vanchhawng, honourable Chairperson, MSCPCR, accompanied by Honourable Members, MSCPCR and Technical Staff was carried out from 9th – 15th February, 2021.
